Putting It On the To-Do List

One of these days...

One of these days, Cadence and I are totally gonna go for a ride in one of these.  Maybe we'll even paint our nails pink and get decked out in strands of pearls.

Egads! I don't know if it was being around all the estrogen this weekend at BlogHer or what, but I've been feeling totally girly lately.  I actually looked at shoes today that weren't loafers or Chuck Taylors.  Crazy, I know...

Just One of Those Things My Camera Can't Resist

This vintage beauty was parked inside the Fulton Street Collective, and if there's one thing I go ga-ga over, it's old schwinns.  That and kittens.

Fading

This is how I'm feeling these days, like I'm being stretched, stretched, stretched until I'm fading like a ghost, grainy, out-of-focus.  I'm hoping it's just PMS...

Jumping into March

Yep, it's true.  The Windy Month is here in the Windy City.  Let's hope that some of those winds are from the South, and that we can shed out winter coats soon and fly some kites.

Yukon Jack

Welcome to my shiny new design!  Getting to this point almost drove me to partake of our liquor collection.  Somehow, I figured it out.  Now that I know how to make all these changes, I may switch everything out again soon, so don't get too attached to any of this.

And this photo is my tribute to Yukon Jack, a truly cheap way to warm your insides.  Ah, I have fond memories related to Yukon Jack...

Work of Art (and Music)

I have two CDs by the band The Low Anthem (thanks for the headsup, Caleb).  I highly recommnd them.  They have a new album out called Oh My God, Charlie Darwin that is just absolutely gorgeous.  You can hear some of it here.  It was recorded on Block Island, RI, where the Tim Lowly Ensemble (which Ted drums for) also played on their East Coast tour last summer.  From what I heard of that island, I can understand how the album turned out to be so beautiful.  There are some songs on there that totally rock out as well.  And there's even one track that for some reason evokes images of Ewen McGregor singing in Moulin Rouge, but that's just me...

Plus, they hand-make their own digipaks.  I've got them displayed as art on our mantel.

Saturday Morning with Cadence

She totally has bedhead in this photo, and that's because I took it on a lazy Saturday morning when we were both sick.  Her eyes still get me though, every time...

I Wish I Had Been There

I was playing around w/ my Lensbaby and shot the TV screen while watching Sam Jone's Wilco doc I Am Trying to Break Your Heart (for the upteenth time).  That is another film that's a photographer's dream, which makes sense since Sam Jones is not just a filmmaker but a celebrity photographer as well.  This is one of my favoite scenes from the movie, when the 4 remaining members of Wilco (after Jay Bennett's departure) are walking along that stretch by the Shedd Aquarium near where Miegs Field used to be.  It's a really beautiful slow-mo seqence taken on a gray day.  I love the grain of the B&W film, and the hazy Chicago skyline as a backdrop.  I so wish I could've just happened to be walking by w/ my camera when they were filming this scene.

Someday I Will Grow My Own

With the Big Thaw of 2009 occurring yesterday, my thoughts turned to spring and all the possibilities...

Selectively Focusing

I just got me a new Lensbaby Composer, thanks to the Shutter Sisters and Lensbaby, and it looks like it's going to take me a while to get used to.  I'm so used to autofocusing everything.  I think I'm gonna have to get that thing that magnifies the view finder for me.  Still, I do like the effect of a selective focus lens.
