Shutter Sisters Cross-Post: For No Obvious Reason

I can't tell you why exactly, but I love this photo. I don't know much about rules of aesthetics that determine whether a photograph should or shouldn't be pleasing to the eye, and quite frankly, I don't really care about the rules. What I can tell you is that the first time I saw this photo, I was instantly smitten. Perhaps it's because looking at it made me develop a narrative about the woman on her phone. Maybe it has to do with the perspective from which the photo was taken. Or it could be because nothing is really in focus in this picture. There is no specific reason for me to like this photo, but I can't deny that I do find it beautiful, and that to me is more important than if a bunch of rules deem it to be a photo worthy of my admiration.

Where are all the peaches?

I'm in Atlanta for work for a few days, and I'm making good use of their public transportation system. $2 from the airport to my hotel in Buckhead! And here I am headed south on Peachtree Road to a 24 hour vegetarian/vegan friendly diner called R. Thomas Deluxe Grill. I recommend the Southern Vegetarian: "Tender collard greens stacked up with millet corn casserole, smashed potatoes and shiitake mushroom gravy. Surrounded by dots of butternut squash, mild and frilly lolla rossa greens and garlic chili flax dressing. Ya’ll will be back for this one!" (I love the use of the words "smashed," "dots" and "frilly" in that description.)

So far, I haven't veered off Peachtree Road yet, but when I have some time on Tuesday night, I plan to. I might try to catch a show; might as well...

Northbound To Howard

One of my favorite places to shoot photos in Chicago is in the subway.  For some reason, I find myself at the Lake Street Red Line stop quite a bit, as I did again yesterday after shooting a wedding downtown.  Everything everywhere was crowded due to the 4th of July holiday, Taste of Chicago and sunny weather.  I just love getting lost in the crowd sometimes, wondering where every one is in such a hurry to get to...
