Shutter Sisters Cross Post: Viva La Snail Mail!
On second thought, I'm not going to cross post the actual post. You can go read it here if you like. Instead, I will write ABOUT the post, which is basically about how I got back into writing snail mail, and how I'm excited to find that others are too and that I'd like to play matchmaker for any Shutter Sisters who want to become pen pals, or Shutter Pals (incorporating photography if they choose).
Speaking of doing things the old-fashioned way, I was digging through my files stored on my old old website (which was started over 8 years ago), and I lost myself in rememberance of some really great memories. A lot of the nostalgia and memories were sparked by old photos I'd taken; really, this is why I keep clicking that shutter--it's my way of retaining memories.
I was reading through some old posts from way back when (archives not on this site), and some of it just cracked me up (damn, I wrote like a teenager writing in her diary back then) and some of it made me want to cry. Maybe I'll post excerpts here from time to time just for kicks. Most of it is REALLY embarrassing.
Anyways, back to snail mail...So I think I'm finding my groove when it comes to this letterwriting thing. Incorporating images really helps. The photo above is me mailing out three postcards on Friday morning. Only one of the recipients ever reads my blog, and that's who the postcard in the middle is for, so no spoiling of surprises there. Two of the postcards have my own photos on the front, but that one on the right is a postcard I've held on to for a long, long time. I've just never felt the urge to send it away until now. I've got a bunch of other postcards like that, and maybe now is the time to let them go.
