It's My Birthday, Folks

And here is the gluten free chocolate cake that my friend Amy made for me during the weekend on the farm. I know you won't believe me, but that cake is full of protein and fiber, thanks to the pureed garbanzo beans that replaced the flour. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
I took today as a vacation day, and Ted and I plan on doing something fun while Cadence is in school, but I'm sure I'll get through the photos from this weekend soon. The photo above is one of the first I took when I got to the farm. There's a lot more where that came from...

Happy, Happy Birthday to you! I hope you have a great day.
Happy Birthday to you Sarah!! I adore that photo of the two children in an embrace.
Well, how about that? We share a birthday! The next thing I'll find out is that you are a sheep/ram in the Chinese zodiac.
Seriously - have a great day! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday my love.
Happy Birthday!
Thanks, everybody!
Happy belated birthday! I am so glad you had a fun weekend away. Many many happy happy birthday wishes!
xoxoxo
Happy Birthday! We share a sign together, mine was on the 24th. Can you share the gluten free cake recipe?
love your photos. When you have time one day I would love to hear more about how you photograph, I was intrigued by the one of the grumpy man and the South Asian woman, did you have it on auto focus, how could you focus if you were taking pics from your hip? How did you get to a point where you didn't feel self aware toting a camera around taking pics of random people, etc?
thanks, Christina
Thanks, Erica!
Happy belated birthday, Christina!
Here is the recipe for the gluten free chocolate cake that Amy graciously posted to her Facebook page (so any comments are by Amy, not me):
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
4 eggs
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar for dusting
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and dust with cocoa powder.
2. Combine the beans and eggs in the bowl of a food processor. Process until smooth. Add the sugar and the baking powder. Pulse to blend.
3. Melt the chocolate chips. Use either a stovetop double boiler or pop the chips in the microwave for 60 seconds on high. Stir and continue to microwave for 20 second intervals until melted.
4. Pour in the melted chocolate and blend until smooth, scraping down the sides to make sure chocolate is completely mixed. Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pan.
5. Bake! Start checking the cake after about 40 minutes. Bake until a quickly inserted knife comes out clean. I ended up baking it for about 50 minutes and probably could have gone another five.
6. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving.
Happy Birthday, Sarah! So looking forward to spending time with you at BlogHer!
